The DCHEA is joining with the Bolling Area Home Educators and the Home School Legal Defense Association in asking the Superintendent of Education and Board of Education to make specific important changes to the proposed homeschooling regulation. For more information about the letter, click here. The changes we are requesting are:

Insert a statement of parental interests
Allow parents to use a letter or form of their choosing to notify the District of their intent to homeschool
Allow the District to review a portfolio only when it has a reason to believe there is non-compliance
Remove the requirement for a parent to have a high school diploma
Provide explicitly for a right of judicial review upon a determination of non-compliance

By submitting this form you are stating that you agree that these changes should be made before the proposed regulations are approved by the Board on June 18th.
